Donal's Camino Walk
. I must confess that I found it extremely difficult for 2 main reasons:
1. A s I had an injury which put me off serious walking for the last 2 months, I am not fit, and todays walk out of Le Puy was one hell of a climb with an elevation difference of some 300 M. My pace was slow and laboured.
2.My back pack is heavy and I had difficulty with getting the right balance. I found that walking with a heavy back pack takes a skill that I don't yet have. Maintaining balance is something that I will have to work on.
However I faced a challenge today and overcame it.
I met some lovely people, two French women who were experienced walkers who were walking twice the distance that I was walking today, but were taking their time and our paths crossed 3 times during the day.. I then met Guy from Phillidelphia who already had walked in Spain to Santiago and he gave me great confidence about my walking and how I would improve after about 5 days when I would be fitter.
I checked into my Pilgrims' Gite very clean and bright and looking forward to a meal this evening prepared by Madam Allegre. Met some very nice Canadian people.
The views today were stunning and the ground underfoot was mostly very good. Temperature, I'd say was in the high twentys or low thirtys.
