Donal's Camino Walk
When we came out of our hotel this morning there was a market on the street which was very interesting. Later on in the year from November and December the Truffle Markets are held here as this is a centre for growing Truffles
A lady started to talk to us at the market about walking the Camino and how she would love to do it but her husband wouldn't be able. She wanted to know if we would like some coffee or come back and have a shower or if there was anything else that we needed. You know, French people are so friendly and so generous.
Today it was a 15 km walk on a varient route which meant that we were not on the normal pilgrim route so we didnt see any other pilgrims today but there are some staying in this Gite and well see them at dinner.
It was quite cool today and at one stage rain threatened but it held off.
The walk today was fairly uneventful but we did come across a well preserved casile one of these round houses used in olden times by the shepherds when they travelled with their flocks for grazing.
Tonight we dined with Madam Martine and Andre Carrier. We had a fantastic dinner. The Carriers and their son Roman dined with us. Starting with a walnut Salad anf Duck pate. This was followed by Duck confit with a beautiful sauce. After that we had beautiful runny cheese followed by the desert of Flan ou Tuilliries. We had an amazing Apperitife and glasses and glasses of Cahor wine.
The wine was bought by Andre and matured by him.
Prince Henry husband of Queen of Denmark owns the chateu in cahor.. Their second son Fredirick married Mary from Tasmania . He has a cave and Andre buys his wine from him and ages it.
This has been the nicest , most friendly, with the best food and drink and the best company so far.
