Donal's Camino Walk
GREALOU
First big surprise in Grealou was being greeted by my Austrian friend Melanie who I didn't really expect to see again as she is a much faster walker than me - and who isn't? She was staying in Grealou for a few days and was helping to run the Gite Le Volets Bleus with Esther the lady who owns the place. The Gite has the most fantastic ambience and everyone is so friendly. There is something special about the place and it is spotless.
Later on we are going to have dinner and Melanie is helping with that too
Well we had dinner- a fantastic vegitarian meal-boiled potatoes ,salad, tuna , carrots, mixed veg hard boiled eggs and potato salad and of course the few glasses of red Cahor wine. After that we had a bit of a sing song and Esther played her accordian. Esther is such a gracious and friendly person and a fantastic artist and sculpturer.
The house was spotlessly clean and I was staying in a room with 5 ladies.
Todays walk was a short one decided by the availability of a place to say and I was really fortunate with my choice. It was an easy walk and it helped my feet as it wasn't too strenous.
There were lots of nice buildings on the way. The special ones were the round houses and the double storey barns, typical of the Lot region which I am now walking through. I have now walked through four Departments,- the Haute-Loire, the Lozere, the Aveyron, and the Lot, I suppose you could say the equivalent of our counties, in Ireland.
