Donal's Camino Walk
Today was a 20 km walk mainly along a Canal Tow path. I could have been in Naas walking along by the Grand Canal except it was a much wider canal and more boats on it. I was talking to an English couple who lived on their canal barge and travelled around France all the year.
Coming out of Moissac I called into another Gite detap owned by an Irish couple Aideen from Ferns in Wexford and Rod from Glenageary called Ultreya. I was made most welcome and met their lovely blond son Mathew. They brought me down to their kitchen and gave me a cup of Barrys tea and some brown bread and marmalade. They gave me a supply of Barrys tea bags to keep me going..
I stopped off in a Bar at lunch time and had some food as where I would be staying that night would not be doing food I got some beautiful chips with my food and with a glass of beer I had a relaxing lunch. The people who owned the Bar were so friendly even though they knew that I would never pass this way again and that I was a one time custumer. And I have found this with most of the French people that I come in contact with.
Into Aixillar wher I am staying tonight. I called into the Tourist office to pay for my bed for the night and be shown where the Gite was. The lady in the tourist office was the first person that I encountered that was a bit offhand and not very helpful. When I asked for a list of the Gites in the region, instead of handing me a list which all the other tourist offices have done, just referred me to a published book, Miam Miam Dodo, which I dont have because it is all in French.
But all in all , the people I meet are very helpful.
No dinner provided tonight so I had to do with a sandwich, Ham, cup of Barrys Tea, water and a can of Kronenburgh.
